be able to help you at our fully independent EU licensed facility.
Our PRIMARY FUNCTIONS are to collect semen from dairy and beef bulls
on behalf of owners throughout Great Britain. The semen can be collected
on stud to export standards or on farm for domestic use. Semen is stored
and dispatched from the EU licensed Main Store.
UK Sire Services was set up in 2001 after the traumas of Foot and Mouth Disease. From the start the company has worked in close harmony with Defra to ensure that the many lessons learned from the outbreak of the disease were heeded and full bio-security cordons built into our plans from the outset.
Because of this we insist on rigourous attention to detail from all members of staff and visitors to the stud. NO VISITORS ARE ALLOWED TO VISIT THE STUD WITHOUT A PRIOR APPOINTMENT WITH THE MANAGER OR DEPUTY MANAGER. UK Sire Services also insists on extra testing of bulls above and beyond government requirements through Defra before they come to the stud and our own quarantine procedures.
We work closely with Stephen Thomas from JWG Thomas Ltd of Umberleigh,
North Devon as our nutritionist to help us feed the bulls on the very
best of rations whilst they are on stud. Stephen has built up an international
reputation as one of the leading experts in ruminant nutrition.
