In our efforts to continue to keep genetics from your herd in front of the world, we have been busy travelling the world. In spring, 2007, Rob led a team from BLG (see the side papel) to SIMA in Paris. This is the commercial showheld bi-annually and attracts visitors from all over Europe. We took enquires from over 20 countries, mostly dominated by the dairy breeds. Rob also made use of UKTI funding to visit a long established contact in Poland. Simon Gill is an ex-pat Englishman who runs a large agricultural consultancy and trading company and is married to one of Poland's top political agricultural advisors in Brussels. Simon is looking to establish livestock and semen orders for UK stock. It seems likely at time of going to print that he will be ordering semen from several different breeds very soon. Simon is one of a group that we will be spending time with at the upcoming Beef Expo 2007 in Skipton. Also there will be Paulo Costa, the head of the Azores Livestock Consultancy Sector. Here's a fact for you! Did you know that over 30% of Portugal's milk is produced on the Azores? With that in mind, I invited Paulo over the Beef Expo with the view of showing him the very best of British Friesians and Angus herds.
