News Headlines and Information
Here comes Summer!
We have a busy year ahead of us and we will be at many of the summer shows to meet you and talk BULL! Look out for us at BEEF EXPO 2007 (Skipton), THE DEVON COUNTY SHOW, THE BATH AND WEST SHOW, THE ROYAL CORNWALL SHOW, THE ROYAL HIGHLAND SHOW, THE ROYAL SHOW, AND THE ROYAL WEST SHOW. You will know where to find our stands at the Devon and Royal shows and you will know that you are more than welcome to come and join us there to put your feet up for a few minutes and have a chat and a "cuppa"!

Overseas Visitors
Overseas Visitors have already started beating a path to our door and we are, as ever, extremely grateful to those of you who host visits to your herd. Thank you. What are they looking for In essence, whatever the breed, our visitors are looking for moderate frame score, correct effecient convertors of forage. What has happened of late to increase the pace for this "grazing model" is the huge jump in the price of grain worldwide because of Ethanol production. It is important that we let our overseas guest realize that we do have exactly what they want and that it is backed up with first rate recording systems for both dairy and beef. The world has tried the New Zealand model and been disaffected with too frail and fragile stock. We have a superb "gold mine" of genetics, a national treasure; the world is looking our way!

Where do they find them?
So, where do we find our overseas contacts and just who are they? Because there is a wealth of export experience within the UK Sire Services team, many of our contacts and distributors have been built up over the years. For instance, Agrigene are our distributors in Australia and are, in fact our number one clients for semen sold and breed diversity. We met their Head of Sales, Chris Saunders, at the recent National Holstein Show whilst he was in Europe with one of his Area Managers, Graham Heaver. They were particularly struck with the Holsteins and British Friesians on offer and we are sending them a pack of information. Other contacts are more recent. I have just hosted Bill Roberts, who is a leading light on the North American North Devon Association. When I met him first last November in Tennessee, I encouraged him to visit the UK. He was astounded by the quality and consistency of the Devon breed in the UK and will definately be ordering. I have put him in touch with one of the AI companies that I am working with in the states and they will work together. (The AI Company are buying Angus, Beef Shorthorn, Belgian Blue and Charolais as well. He is being invited for later this year!)
